Very quick thought on Whatever Happened to Mr. Garibaldi, about 20 minutes before you’re due to record…

The ambassadors have probably noticed that things are getting more serialized. When I rewatched this about a year and a half ago, I noticed that this part of the series seemed more like TV of the present moment.

But it makes it hard to comment on individual episodes, as distinct from story threads. So, to confine this to my favorite thread, Londo-and-G’Kar – remember when “King Arthur” made G’Kar a Knight of the Round Table? It’s now that he has his classic Arthurian quest (compare also Grail), which (as can happen in Arthurian romance) leads him to be captured by an enemy.

In Arthurian romance, it’s usually a woman who helps the knight out in this situation. But here it’s Londo. We have another scene in which it’s just Peter Jurasik and Andreas Katsulas acting off one another in a confined space, and it’s another fantastic scene, which contrast excellently with the elevator scene from S3- because while the previous scene showed Londo and G’Kar at their worst, this shows both of them at their best. I particularly like Londo’s acknowledgement that this moment doesn’t mean to him what he would have expected it to mean (and what Cartagia assumes that it means). But both actors, and the writing for both, are generally fabulous.
