One Response to “Episode 106 – Lines of Communication”

[Spoilers for Between the Darkness and the Light]

So, if I have this correct, your next episode will be Between the Darkness and the Light. if that’s not right, and you haven’t got there yet, don’t read this!

It’s a bit weird commenting without knowing what you all thought of the episodes between Lines of Communication and this one. But my comment is pretty trivial.

One thing that I don’t like about S4 B5 is that the show pushes the station itself into the background. I think it’s a significant problem with Into the Fire that the critical confrontation with the Shadows and the Vorlons doesn’t happen around the station, and I don’t think it would have been too hard to frame the story so that it did.

In this episode, BtDatL, we have a story that is set up to have a grand moment in which Sheridan assumes command of the Agamemnon again. JMS has framed the story as if that should be this terrifically meaningful moment for us, as it is for Sheridan himself. But we as viewers have no reason to be all that invested in the Agamemnon. It’s an odd misfire in what is generally a pretty effective episode.

I’m not a fan of Ivanova’s speech, either.
