Nothing’s the same anymore. Jason conspires with us to discuss episode 1×22 – “Chrysalis”.

Sorry for the poor audio on my end. I wasn’t able to use my normal setup due to electrical problems. – Will

Can you please re-master Will’s audio for this? He sounds like he’s underwater or, more to the point, that he’s mumbling under water. Everyone else’s audio is fine but I just can’t follow along with the discussion because it’s almost impossible to make out what Will is saying. I’d hate to have to skip this episode especially since it’s the season finale but it’s too garbled. Thank you.

I have to agree with Ian’s sentiment that Chrysalis is when Babylon 5 starts really to feel like Babylon 5. One reason why people who’ve seen the show before can feel that somehow Chrysalis offers more answers than it actually does might be that, while Chrysalis doesn’t offer answers in the strict sense, what it does offer is significant development of the story – not season one’s strong point, on the whole.

But, to say something nice about season one, I think it’s the season with the most elegant pairing of season opener and season finale. Chrysalis is an excellent sequel to Midnight on the Firing Line, turning as it does on two key plot elements of the opener, the Narn-Centauri conflict and President Santiago’s election.

For your season one wrap-up, supposing that you read this by tomorrow: the ambassadors tend to get the most questions, so here’s a question for the command staff. How has the the experience of rewatching these episodes and then discussing them with people who’ve never seen the show before affected your own perceptions of B5?

The audio sounds a lot better than it originally did. Unfortunately, I don’t think much can be done now besides re-recording the audio.
